AMPANG: Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) president Azwanddin Hamzah lodged a report here yesterday over a death threat he received following the group’s efforts to expose gambling centres.
Azwanddin Hamzah said he received a text message at 1.16am from an international number, threatening him and his family, and warning him against trying to eradicate gambling activities.
“Halo brader Azwan lu mau ingat sikit, lu jangan kacau kita punya niaga, lu ingat lu banyak besar ka? Kita orang tau lu punya rumah mana, lu punya anak semua sekolah mana. Lu kalau sayang lu punya nyawa sama family lu jangan kacau kita punya niaga. Lu jangan mau jadi hero ini mesin kuda. banyak cilaka lu.”

(Hello brother Azwan, you should not mess with our business, you think you are so great? We know where your house is, where your children go to school. If you love yourself and your family, do not mess with our business. Do not try to be a hero of gambling issues.)
Azwanddin said the report was made to speed up the investigation and ensure the safety of his
family.
“I believe such businesses are protected by gangsters, which explains why they are not afraid of making such threats.”
He said the threats would not weaken JMM’s spirit and that it would continue its fight to make sure illegal gambling activities were wiped out.
“We are monitoring targeted premises, as well as collecting evidence to be handed to the Home Ministry,” he said, adding that the information would be submitted by Thursday.
